Labor Day weekend was the perfect time for me to head over to the GAP (are we still calling it The GAP!?) to find a few end of season pieces on sale and see what new things they had since I had another US Open visit in my future.
Four years ago I started adding GAP pieces to my wardrobe which was a completely different style at the time. Since then I’ve picked up some pieces every few months when I want to wear a casual, relaxed look.
Here’s a peek at what I tried on while in the GAP fitting room -
I already have a tailored chambray shirt but this GAP chambray shirt was less than half the price of the other one so I thought since it looked nice I would pick it up and have two. I loved it. Casual but neat. Perfect for so many occasions. The fit in the sleeves wasn’t perfect though.
I don’t own anything that looks remotely like sweatpants and I don’t wear pants of any kind with words or logos on them.
These Terry logo capris in navy were my chance to step out of my comfort zone a little more but the fit just didn’t seem right. It highlighted the shape of my hips instead of being flattering.
When I saw the drop sleeve t in sail blue it looked so comfortable. I thought the color would look great on me too. I took a size XS into the fitting room with me but as you can see it was so roomy. Too roomy.
I understand it isn’t supposed to be a fitted shirt but I didn’t want to look like I
was hiding a pregnancy didn’t care when I was outside wearing it. It’s too bad because at $19.95 I had hope for it.
I love a good jersey dress and this striped cami jersey dress definitely would have needed a belt if I wore it but they didn’t have a size XS. I tried on the S and it was too loose. This is what I get for not peeking in the store more often.
Four years ago, one of my first GAP purchases was a pair of their boyfriend jeans. That style was really popular so I picked up a pair. I wore them once. I wore them for the second time this summer but the color was faded so I checked out these 1969 sexy boyfriend jeans. I would have preferred the betty wash to the koko wash but they didn’t have the betty wash in my size.
Have you ever had high hopes while shopping and came away with nothing out of everything you took into the fitting room? I know, it’s my fault I didn’t come away with anything I loved from the GAP. I’ll try to go back before three months have passed so I can stand a chance at finding things in my size.
