I completely believe every so often a guy needs to leave their usual stylist to get a fresh outlook on their hair style and a new haircut.

This week’s Fella Friday takes place at ARROJO where my fella got a haircut -

And after getting a bit of a “shape up” from his stylist Stacey, he left with Arrojo texture paste and Arrojo hair creme (both $15) to help with his upkeep.

Here are some upkeep tips for men from ARROJO stylist Stacey Whitmire:

A professional shampoo like the Arrojo Daily Shampoo is great for most guys — it’s clean, basic and won’t dry the hair out — and shampoo every other day. Too much shampooing will dry your hair out. You can always rinse your hair to clean it in between shampoos by massaging your scalp with your fingers.

For guys with thick, coarse, wavy or curly hair, condition your hair with Arrojo Daily Conditioner, since those hair types are naturally drier. Using the right shampoo and conditioner will keep your hair looking manageable.

To avoid the wet look, on partially dry hair use a grooming product like Arrojo Hair Cream to add polish and tame hair that tends to have a lot of volume (ie. undressed wavy hair can look “puffy”). Add a dab of Arrojo Texture Paste to the Hair Cream for hold and effortless-looking texture. Remember to apply the product starting at the back of your head and work towards the front, really massaging it in all over. You don’t want to only apply the product just above your forehead.

For guys with straight, fine hair who want a bit of hold and style, blow-dry in Arrojo Volume Foam. Your hair will look fuller without looking like you have any product in your hair.

If you can’t get into your stylist for a clean-up in between haircuts and your side burns tend to grow fast, use a visual marker on your face (below or above your ear lobe, for instance) to balance your sideburns when trimming them with an edger.
